2005 Kickathon Raises $9,000 for CAMH

Toronto
July 13, 2005

On the evening of May 18, 2005, members of ShorinjiKempo Toronto Branch held their annual Kickathon charity event in aid of drug cessation research and treatment programs offered by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (“CAMH”).

The 2005 Kickathon turned out to be a great success and we were able to raise $9,000 – a new record amount. The annual Kickathon has now raised over $53,000 for CAMH since the event began in 1997.

Here are what some Toronto Branch members had to say:

“It is wonderful to see the level of support we are able to generate from our friends, families and coworkers each year with the Kickathon.”

“It makes me feel good to be part of an organization that tries as hard to help as ShorinjiKempo does.”

“Who doesn't love to sweat for a good cause!"

The official cheque presentation was made on the evening of July 13, 2005 to Dr. David Goldbloom, the Senior Medical Advisor, Education and Public Affairs for CAMH and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. Dr. Goldbloom commented "their contribution will help to kick-start our campaign that will lead to the building of a brand new CAMH - a hospital that will recognize the broad needs of its patients, from the spiritual to the physical."

ShorinjiKempo Toronto Branch is proud of its long association with CAMH and wishes the Centre every future success with its groundbreaking work in the field of addiction.

We wish to thank the many kind sponsors of the event for their generosity and support.
